We couldn’t be more excited to announce a new addition to the Waterways team. Please welcome Shane Strause, who has recently joined Waterways as General Manager of Marina Village. With the highly-anticipated Marina Village in the initial phases of construction, Shane will be responsible for all things marina as we continue to work behind the scenes to make Marina Village a reality.
Shane joins Waterways from Montage Palmetto Bluff, where he was the Director of Sporting Clubs. In this role, he oversaw the daily operations of the Marina, Shooting Club and the Equestrian Center. He previously worked as a Marina Manager at Snake Creek Marina in Islamorada, Florida, where he supervised the final construction and opening of the marina. He has also held positions at the Plantation Yacht Harbor in Islamorada, Florida as well as General Manager of Journeys End Marina in Rockland, Maine, the largest winter indoor boat storage facility in New England.
Shane brings over eight years of Naval experience where he was an Aviation Warfare Systems Operator and was trained to track submarines using the acoustical gear inside the aircraft. After the Navy, Shane returned to Chesapeake Bay where he began selling yachts for a dealership on Kent Island. Shortly after, he began his own yacht brokerage and new boat dealership on the Bohemia River on the eastern shore of Maryland before making the transition to marina management.
In 2009, Shane and his family navigated the waters of the Florida Keys on a 55’ Ocean Sportfish Boat where they lived onboard for three years. The sportfish boat is among 56 boats that Shane has owned in the last 18 years!
Off the water, Shane enjoys spending time with his wife, children and their two dogs, four goats, four turkeys, thoroughbred horse and guinea pig.

Central to Waterways’ development philosophy is interconnectivity by water and nature. To that end, the premier Marina Village area of Waterways is now undergoing initial phases of construction and planning. Once developed, Marina Village will feature a drystack storage facility with up to 200 dryslips for boats up to 32 feet hull length, and an impressive collection of buildings and amenities built to complement the beautiful natural landscape of marsh frontage. Cottenham Exchange will feature 15,000 square feet of community space for fitness, retail and community sales. Here, Waterways plans for four pools spanning 9,000 square feet and state-of-the-art fitness opportunities amongst panoramic views of marshes and ancient oaks. With plans for a snack bar, general store, kids zone, and casual retail (perhaps a coffee shop or ice cream shop), Cottenham Exchange will be the perfect place to enjoy the unique soul of Waterways. Another building at Marina Village, Marina House, is planned to feature a bar, delectable dining options, and a place to sit and catch up on the news of the day with neighbors.
